Depending upon the desired qualifications of the successful candidate, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a higher level within the job hierarchy.
This position will provide support on the Gear Unit team. This includes gear unit inspection,borescoping, repair, design modifications and uptower gear unit repairs. This position performs a varietyof administrative duties as well as responsible for EH&S and other relevant compliances. Requiresbasic computer skills utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, email programs, facility control and
management systems, and computerized diagnostic and troubleshooting tools.
Nationwide travel is required. The travel schedule will consist of a 6 week rotation with one week of R&R time at home between travel rotations. This is a continual cycle.
This position requires fieldwork and is in a wind farm environment, primarily during normal businesshours. However the site operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which will include changes of shift,overtime, and includes exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust and humidity. Ability to climb turbine towersdaily (up to 300 feet). Participate in an on-call schedule. Willing to work overtime, holidays, weekends,
and on short notice during planned/unplanned/emergency site outages. Helps in all areas of facilityoperations.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Two year college degree or technical school certificate, Or at least 2 years of related experience
or wind industry training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be proficient with computers, standard software applications, SCADA, and plant management software.
Qualifications:
Previous gear unit experience preferred
Additional years of wind turbine experience is strongly preferred and will be given preference over
other power industry experience.
Experience with multiple wind turbine supplier technology.
High voltage and sub-station maintenance experience.
Additional technical education a plus and will be seriously considered.
Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment (i.e. voltage testers, amp clamps,
oscilloscopes, and various hand and power tools).
Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and
rigging requirements.
Specific Requirements:
Ability to climb turbine towers daily (up to 300 feet).
Job: GenerationEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
