Description: Meridian Trust FCU is looking for a talented individual to fill the role of Director of Compliance. The Director of Compliance will be responsible for ensuring the policies and procedures of the Credit Union comply with appropriate laws and regulations. Analyzes new and pending laws that could directly affect the Credit Union''s current practices and communicate those changes to the organization.
Validates organizational compliance by overseeing internal audits and provides recommendations where needed. Maintains proficiency on all federal, state, and local laws/regulations affecting the operations and lending functions of the organization. Prepares internal policy and procedures to comply with federal, state, and local laws/regulations.
Establishes internal audit guidelines to cover frequency or percentage of spot audits and methods of accomplishing audits. Oversees internal audit and quality control departments.
Conducts periodic meetings with the management team, Board of Directors, and other supervisory elements including the Supervisory Committee to advise them on audit findings. Makes recommendations for process improvements based on findings.
Reviews organizational database reports as part of internal controls. Coordinates with outside compliance vendor as well as internal staff to ensure overall compliance.
Tests and validates the compliance of the Disaster Recovery and Retention policies.
Occasional travel to other branches.
Coordinates projects that involve information disclosure, and policy changes to inform staff of new procedures requiring compliance. Provide informational assistance to the operational and lending functions as needed.
Qualifications: Bachelor-s Degree or equivalent plus a minimum of six months experience in a financial or business related field; college course work or vocational school training in business/financial operations or accounting desired; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience supervising/managing small teams.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
