Core responsibilities of this position include:
Key member of the WAFB team. Assists the Program Manager in all aspects of student related activities to include general advising regarding educational opportunities and programs, student admissions, enrollment, class registration, and all required office actions on FEW AFB including data entry into the college's database for admissions, class enrollment/withdrawal, and COMPASS placement testing results. Basic administrative duties include answering phones, filling copy requests, filing, office inventory management, participation in staff meetings/development, etc. Conducts and manages all office operations during the Program Manager's absence. Deal effectively with adult learners representing widely divergent backgrounds, interests, and points of view by advising military members, their family members and all potential students about their educational options and opportunities available to them. These options include but are not limited to, attending classes with LCCC to start, continue to pursue, and complete their degrees, and it also includes advising them about their opportunity to complete College Level Examination Program (CLEP)/DANTES Subject Standardized Testing. Additionally, this testing process includes coordinating testing, scheduling students to test, and also serving as the national Test Center alternate test proctor. Important note: Students currently enrolled in undergraduate programs are not eligible to be CLEP or DANTES test proctors.
Must be a self-starter and able to juggle several projects at the same time--the ability to multi-task effectively is a key element to the successful completion of daily tasks. Must be able to effectively organize their time, the office and various projects while also visiting with potential students and answering phones.
This includes: Objectively and fairly assess people on their ability, and to adjust to various situations based on the facts and circumstances. Completing and submitting instructor appointment forms, and managing the annual instructor/student questionnaire program for 15 base instructors. Inputting and finalizing course entry for future term schedules, and managing the LCCC Entry Authorization List process which is used for gathering required information about students that require base access. It also includes assisting civilian students gaining access to Warren AFB by utilizing the base Entry Authorization List (EAL) and base pass processes.
Must be capable of conveying the mission and purpose of the college to active duty and guard military members, their family members, and other civilians who have access to the base education facility. This includes; Conducting marketing of LCCC educational programs to assigned active duty, their family members and other government employed civilian personnel at various base-wide functions throughout each academic year.
80% - Perform student related activities
15% - Administrative functions/Publicity--other duties as assigned
5% - Coordinate training activities with base education office
Associate degree in an education, management, or related field preferred, or appropriate practical experience may be substituted for education.
Prior experience in an educational setting is desired and would be very beneficial.
Experience working with young adults and assisting potential students who are seeking assistance with educational planning is highly desired. Prior active duty military service or an active association with military members in general is extremely beneficial and preferred.
