The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a Driver Services Specialist for the Driver Services Renewals Program located in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
This position positively affects public safety on our roads and highways by reviewing and verifying the information contained on driver license and identification card applications for accuracy and compliance requiring extensive judgment and decision-making skills.

Essential Functions:

Perform driver record reviews and determine eligibility for renewing and issuing driver licenses and identification cards through the mail and/or electronically.
Review application information and verify proper documentation, fees, and driving privilege clearance on the Revenue Information System (RIS).
Receive and respond to clients through email notification groups.
Deal with complex issues regarding issuing, quality-checking, processing, and tracking driver licenses and identification cards as a result of the statewide licensing process mandated by state statute.
Responsible for entering specific information and generating letters sent to applicants.
Review immigration documentation and verify lawful status and length of stay of non-citizens applying for licenses and identification cards.
Responsible for labeling, quality-checking, and completing documents scanned into a large complex document retrieval system.
Receive and respond to phone calls and emails from examiners and customers.
Review and quality-check documents scanned by the examiners.
Collect, enter, and balance fees sent in by mail and through credit card transactions.
Receive, process, and distribute mail.
Order, receive, store, and distribute supplies; maintain inventory.
Review information utilizing various electronic verification programs.
Consult with a supervisor when situations occur and change that require attention.
Handle any and all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications PREFERENCE:
Preference will be given to those with Driver Services experience.
Preference will be given for advanced skill level using Google Drive, Google Calendar, and a database.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of Wyoming State Statutes and Rules and Regulations for specialized areas.
Knowledge of department rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge of personnel rules.
Knowledge of the types of licenses to be issued.
Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Knowledge of scanning.
Skill in excellent customer service.
Skill in effective interpersonal, oral, and written communications.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Calendar.
Skill in decision making.
Skill in keyboarding with proficiency and report writing.

Associate's Degree (typically in Business)
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Business) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Drivers Services Assistant OR Education & Experience Substitution:
1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Drivers Services AssistantCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time in an office environment.
