The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking a Geographic Information Systems Technician in Cheyenne, WY.
The primary responsibility of this position is to develop, update, maintain and/or standardize authoritative geospatial data useful to ongoing agency GIS operations.
Other duties will include assisting with:
map production involved in the signage of Commission-managed lands; ongoing enterprise geodatabase maintenance efforts; end-user support; configuring and supporting web maps and applications; and completing other GIS projects as assigned.

Maintain spatially-referenced wildlife resource-related data in a GIS environment (digitize, update, improve, and enhance Department geospatial datasets) Check and verify accuracies of geometry, attribute data, and standardized metadata; Map production Contribute to the ongoing configuration of mobile applications Document the development of major procedures and workflows Accurately interpret pseudo-legal written descriptions of boundaries Complete GIS-oriented projects as assigned Qualifications PREFERENCES:
Preference is given for any combination of training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in GIS (Geographic Information Systems), Geography, Geospatial Technologies, or a related field.
Preference will be given to applicants with training and/or experience in applying GIS principles in a working or learning environment using Esri's suite of geospatial solutions, including ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcGIS Online, and mobile application solutions.
KNOWLEDGE:
Broad understanding of the basic concepts and principles of GIS, including data acquisition and automation, spatial data organization, projections, map cartography, project workflows, data analysis, etc.
; Proficient use of the Esri suite of GIS geospatial solutions and geoprocessing tools, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS-specific editing environments, mobile solutions, and related workflows; Some knowledge of R, Python, JavaScript, or Arcade within a GIS context; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products; Ability to use computer hardware, software, and other related information technologies for extended periods on a daily basis; Ability to learn and adhere to policies, procedures, and expectations established as a condition for ongoing employment within the contract period; Skilled in time management and workload planning; capable of working both independently and as a team; Oral and written communication skills are important.
