In this role, you will be supporting the HPE supercomputer for the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
This one of HPE's mission-critical Weather and Energy customers.
Reporting daily to the customer's site, working with both the customer and remote HPE teams.
You will be part of the local site team responsible for maintaining the systems availability and uptime, to assure customer's SLA is met.
The primary duty of this position will include daily Break fix work, with extensive troubleshooting and part replacement work across the system.
In addition to providing pre-installation configuration, on-site integration, administration, and customer enablement of HPE's cutting edge high performance computing solution.
Working at the direction of customer; you will respond directly to customer requests and assignments, provide them technical and operational support along with guidance as needed.
Onsite Role:
Location - Cheyenne, Wyoming US Citizenship required This role requires in-person attendance at non-HPE worksite
Responsibilities:
Maintain Linux Supercomputer systems availability to the customer.
Maintain Linux based system software and firmware revisions, including patches, updates, and OS upgrades.
Preform hardware diagnostics and repairs as required.
Solve Linux system hardware, software, and third-party software issues, and provide detailed and thoughtful analysis of problem and solution.
Gather data, perform analysis, and escalate problems to higher-level product support groups and appropriate management when necessary to ensure timely resolution of system or customer issues.
Case management of issues and work performed.
Must monitor, update and follow-through cases to their completion.
Inventory and Part management.
Must be maintained using the provided tools for on-site parts along the ordering and returning of parts.
Often leads small to medium technical projects.
Works with and under the direction of the Project/Technical Manager and with customer nominated representatives.
Communicates across client community, and is viewed as adding value.
Demonstrates execution of the company strategy.
Contributes to knowledge tools and communities, and ensures project learnings are documented and shared.

Education and Experience Required:
5
years of Linux HPC-related experience, ideally with large-scale HPC system administration and hardware support Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study; without a degree, three additional years of relevant professional experience (8
years in total).
Knowledge and Skills:
Extensive knowledge and experience with Linux operating systems (RHEL or SLES preferred) Proficiency with scripting languages (e.
g.
Bash, Perl, Python, etc.
) preferred.
Ability to maintain system software, utilizing debugging tools for problem isolation; will perform software builds, software upgrades, and patch installation as needed.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Excellent interpersonal, customer relations and problem management skills, with the ability to stay calm and professional under pressure while working to strict deadlines.
Able to clearly document processes and procedures.
Occasional travel for training is required.
Able to demonstrate the professionalism of the job family.
Ability to work in a multi- technology environment with the ability to diagnose complex technical problems to their root cause.
