Depending upon the desired qualifications of the successful candidate, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a higher level within the job hierarchy.This position is responsible for operations, and maintenance required at the Happy Jack Wind Farm. Candidate will troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical wind turbine generator malfunctions. Performs a variety of administrative duties as well as responsible for EH&S and other relevant compliances. Requires basic computer skills utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, email programs, facility control and management systems, and computerized diagnostic and troubleshooting tools.
This position requires fieldwork and is in a wind farm environment, primarily during normal business hours. However the site operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which will include changes of shift, overtime, and includes exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust and humidity. Ability to climb turbine towers daily (up to 300 feet) and meteorological towers (up to 360 feet) as required. Participate in an on-call schedule. Willing to work overtime, holidays, weekends, and on short notice during planned/unplanned/emergency site outages. Helps in all areas of facility operations as directed by the Site Manager. Reports directly to the Site. Willing to travel approximately 5-10% for training and assist other Duke Energy Generation Services wind facilities when needed.
Qualifications: Basic Qualifications:Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Two year college degree or technical school certificate, or at least 2 years of related experience or wind industry training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be proficient with computers, standard software applications, SCADA, and plant management software.
Must maintain a valid driver''s license.
Qualifications:
Previous experience with Suzlon turbine and equipment .
Additional years of wind turbine experience is strongly preferred and will be given preference over other power industry experience.
Experience with multiple wind turbine supplier technology.
Electrical and/or mechanical troubleshooting Additional technical education (wind turbine) a plus and will be seriously considered.
Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment (i.e. voltage testers, amp clamps, oscilloscopes, and various hand and power tools).
Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements.
Specific Requirements:
Ability to climb turbine towers daily (up to 300 feet) and meteorological towers (up to 360 feet) as required.
Working Conditions:
Ability to work overtime and shift work, including holidays and weekends.
