Description
Candidate will be part of a well-organized and motivated engineering team responsible for monitoring, escalating and troubleshooting signal quality and RF anomalies within the ground-to-space-to-ground segments used in large-scale Direct-to-Home satellite operations. Candidate will assure immediate and long-term signal analysis is consistently, accomplished and documented. This will include trending satellite performance, and reporting input to the uplink centers, spacecraft operations and management, so as to maintain and optimize service transmission parameters. Position includes supporting spacecraft payload reconfigurations for ongoing broadcast operations, assisting with payload launch activities, system modifications and maintenance. Will complete administrative reports as required. Compose service outage reports related to weather, equipment or personnel.
Other duties as needed by the department will be required. Position will include 24 x 7 x 365 rotational shift work including holidays and weekends.
Responsibilities:
Assist with coordinating and supporting various maintenance activities and configuration changes for 6 large satellite broadcast centers.
Maintains appropriate oversight of signal level performances to ensure they remain within expected parameters of spacecraft manufacture design.
Responsible for oversight and execution of preventive trending and space segment analysis
Effectively investigates, analyzes and communicates long and short term spacecraft payload performance trends and assist teams with coordinating the proper corrective actions to affect a remedy.
Compose service outage reports, weather outage reports, shift reports, failure analysis, technical procedures, drawings, and training material.
Keeps teammates and management informed of progress on noted discrepancies and facilitates and tracks them to resolution.
Candidate will be responsible for completing in-house training in support of management and held accountable for work product and actions.
Candidate will read, write and interpret documents pertaining to safety, training, and general business functions.
Must manage multiple priorities with differing demands on resources and time.
Will be required to adhere to department policies, procedures.
Basic Requirements:
A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree and/or at least 12 years' advanced technology experience and 6 years related work experience in a fast-paced, high-tech work environment.
US citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
Must be able to work any as assigned, SHIFT WORK: 24x7x365 as needed; Rotational 28 days, weekends and holidays.
Essential Functions:
Ability to communicate vocal details via short wave radio, voice box, telephone to convey information. Can manipulate equipment control panels and man-machine computer user interface screens.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group including directors, managers, supervisors, subject matter experts, coworkers and external customers.
Ability to work with electronic test equipment and industry standard tools including spectrum analyzers and Monitor & Control systems.

Qualifications:
Must exhibit a willingness to learn from others to advance own knowledge and expertise and share knowledge and expertise with coworkers whenever possible.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, space segment link budget calculations, G/T analysis projections and EIRP parameters, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Previous experience in working with Link budget design related to Transponder and Ground Station Equipments, digital Modulation (QPSK, 8PSK, 16-QUAM).
Has a solid understanding of theoretical and operational concepts related to the earth-to-space-to-earth segments of the commercial satellite communications industry
Satellite antenna tracking and control up to13.2 meter.
2-way/4-way Variable Phase Combining and redundancy techniques.
Traveling-Wave-Tube amplifiers and High-power Klystron amplifiers.
High power Diplexer Frequency Combining networks.
Uplink Power control systems.
Ability to determine various tasks involved in multiple projects and prioritize their completion.
Demonstrates ability to analyze issues and determine solution options that effectively and accurately drives resolution.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. The ability to analyze and review technical drawings of signal flow, antenna systems and equipment rack elevations.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
Makes excellent use of available technology and tools in troubleshooting and analyzing issues.
